Practical Task Week 6

How to find the height of a tree without climbing it?

Well to carry out this experiment you need:
A partner
A pencil
A measuring tape
A tree of your choice
A bonding material

Okay what you will need to do is first find the tree of your choice.
Then grab you pencil hold it out in front of you vertically and close one eye, walk backward slowly until the pencil is the same size as the tree in your sight.
Turn the pencil vertical so its flat along the ground it your sight.
Now get your partner to stand by the tree with the measuring tape and stick the end of the tape with your bonding material to the tree.
Tell him to walk out and out with the measuring tape held to the tree until he reaches the the tip of the pencil then tell him/her to stop, then read what the number is on the tape closest to you.
That is the height of the tree.

In the past pioneers would use this method for games except they did not use the measuring tape and the bonding material. But what they would do was they would get two of all the pioneers to do the method and once they had finished they would put their lunch just out of range from the tree and if the men who did it wrong no one would get lunch as it would have gotten squished.
